What is a mini facelift?
Facelift is a cosmetic surgery (rhytidectomy) performed to rejuvenate the facial skin and to give a younger and aesthetic appearance. Facelift is performed to clear the smile lines, smooth the contour and tighten the neck to give you a more youthful look.
At Restore, we use MACS (Minimal Access Cranial Suspension) facelift. MACS or mini facelift is a surgical procedure for the correction of sagging facial features. Unlike a normal facelift, the MACS lift is a new technique that offers the advantage of a short incision and a shorter recovery period. It is a natural facial rejuvenation often used for patients with sagging cheeks.
What is the procedure like?
The procedure takes about 3 hours to complete and is performed under general or local anaesthesia. During the procedure, your surgeon makes an incision in front of your ear. After making the incision, the tissues under the skin are tightened with permanent stitches. These sutures pass down to your neck, jowls and cheek fat pad. As the malar fat pad is elevated the lower eyelids are also raised, lid blepharoplasty can be done at the same time. Liposuction may also be performed to remove fatty tissue from your neck and free up more excess skin for re-draping. You need to wear a firm bulky bandage and a drain is placed behind the ears to drain extra fluids and blood.
What can I expect after the procedure?
The bandage along with the drains is removed the following day. Later on, a light chin-up bandage is worn for one week. There may be some residual bruising particularly around the eyes.
The MACS facelift is a short scar technique that gives you a fresh natural appearance. You can appear around eight to ten years younger after complete recovery.Based on your skin type and your lifestyle, the advantages of the MACS lift procedure will last for around ten years. In addition, your overall results are also affected by your diet, body weight and exposure to sunlight. Obviously the skin will continue to age in a natural way.
